The old legend of salt water taffy is that long ago, a sweet shop along the shoreline flooded, which left the entire stock of candy soaked in saltwater. The shop owner joked with his customer that all he had left to sell them was saltwater taffy. From them on, the name stuck and it became synonymous with taffy that was sold in oceanfront stores. Now, we're lucky enough to have delicious saltwater taffy combined with everyone's favorite mountain berry: the huckleberry!
