The Night Before Christmas a Montana Gift Corral Story

The Night Before Christmas a Montana Gift Corral Story
’Twas the night before Christmas and all through Montana,
all the Ditz bears were sleeping, awaiting dear Santa
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas would soon be there.

The Christmas gnomes were nestled all snug in their place,
while the holiday hedgehogs danced and embraced.
The tree with its tree skirt and ornaments galore,
settling into the evening close to the door.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
The snowmen arose to see what was the matter!
Away to the window they flew in a sprint,
Knocking over the snow globes and bright lighted prints.

The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow,
Gave the glitter and sparkle to Old World Christmas below.
When what to our wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
With a little old driver so lively and quick,
They knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.

More rapid than river otters his coursers they came,
And he whistled and shouted, and called them all  by name.
Now Dasher, Now Dancer, Now Prancer, and Vixen,
On Comet, On Cupid, On Donner, and Blizten!
To the top of the store! To the top of Gift Corral!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!

As frozen flurries before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
So up to the store-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of gifts - and St. Nicholas too;
And then in a twinkling, they hear on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.

As the gifts wait with anticipation around,
Through the store door St. Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot.
And his big drawstring bag, on the floor he put.
A bundle of Montana Made gifts flung out of his pack,
All from Gift Corral, imagine that!

His eyes - how they twinkled! His dimples how merry,
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry;
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.

He had a broad face, and a little round belly
That shook when he laughed, like a bowl of huckleberry jelly.
He was chubby and plump, like our holiday gnomes,
Maybe it’s because he snacks on our popcorn?

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Helped the nervous gnomes relax from their dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to work,
And grabbed some stockings and Meissenburg artwork.

Filling up his bag, he was ready to go,
A Montana Gift Corral Christmas for everyone you know.
He sprung to his sleigh, his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew, like the down of a thistle:
Heard from above, he exclaimed in mid-flight,
Merry Gift Corral Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
